Peninsular Guitar Ensemble and Love.Music Classical Guitar Charity Concert Series

In 2022, Hong Tee embarked on a remarkable journey to establish an ensemble group that consists of guitar enthusiasts from across the peninsular Malaya, namely, Yong Peng, Muar, Kuantan, Alor Setar, Ipoh and Selangor/KL. She was joined by a group of dedicated classical guitar teachers, mainly of whom were her former students, along with their talented young protégés. This endeavour received valuable support from Persatuan Chopin Malaysia and Sunway University, and a special note of gratitude is extended to Prof. Snezana Panovska for her unwavering encouragement and support.

PGE is a non-profit music performance and educational outreach programme. The primary objective of this ensemble is to provide a platform for aspiring young guitarists to enhance their skills and elevate the playing standards of the young generation. We aim to achieve this by providing comprehensive training and opportunities to prepare and showcase their talent in public performances. Our ensemble concerts including duos, quartets, chamber and grand ensemble that directed by Hong Tee.

In addition to being a showcase of musical prowess, our three-day gathering serves as an educational event. We are proud to offer a complimentary guitar workshop to all participants on the subsequent day. This invaluable opportunity allows them to learn directly from seasoned professionals, with the goal of taking their playing abilities to new heights.

Through this platform, we aspire to inspire, motivate, and foster a spirit of collaboration among all participants. Our hope is that they will not only develop a deep appreciation for classical guitar and classical music but also form lasting connections and share their passion with one another.

PGE’s debut concert was held at the Sunway University (https://youtu.be/dkvIGqNzeTs?si=oUAM7Sqw4OPZHWQt) in year 2022. The following year, PGE was invited to perform their second annual concert in Alor Setar. In November 2024, PGE returned to Sunway University for its third edition.

We are seeking sponsorship to fuel our growth and sustain our journey. We warmly invite individuals and organisations who believe in our mission to support us financially by becoming a valued patron of PGE.

Love.Music is the result of a collaboration between the classical guitarist, Hong Tee, and several welfare organizations, music schools and institutions in Malaysia. The goal of the series is both artistic and charitable: bringing the intimate and amazing world of the classical guitar to the local community in the Klang Valley and other states of Peninsular Malaya and, at the same time, giving a helping hand to those in need in society and the world at large.

The series began in 2013 with seven recitals thoughout the year, grew in 2014 into a Voice + Classical Guitar five-concert programme featuring Hong and mezzo-soprano, Alice Ching and, in 2017, evolved again into a platform for the younger generation of classical guitar players in which Hong and eight of her students presented a three-concert programme with a repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the 20th century. This idea was continued in 2019.
